Spring Rose Show

The Portland Rose Society Annual Spring Rose Show returns as the largest and longest running rose show in the nation, filling the Lloyd Center with the beauty and fragrance of more than 4,000 blooms. Each year, rose growers from across the Pacific Northwest gather to showcase their finest flowers, drawing thousands of spectators from around the country to admire the displays.

Entry is open to anyone, and growers of all experience levels are encouraged to participate. Sparkling trophies are awarded to exhibitors whose roses rise to the top, celebrating excellence in cultivation and care. Admission is free, making it an accessible and welcoming event for the entire community.

Founded in 1889 by Mrs. Henry Pittock and fellow Portlanders who believed in celebrating the city’s love of roses, the Portland Rose Society has carried that vision forward for more than a century. From the first show in Mrs. Pittock’s garden to today’s showcase at Lloyd Center, the tradition of growing and exhibiting exceptional roses remains at the heart of the organization.

Today, the society includes hundreds of members and continues its work beyond the annual show, supporting the Washington Park International Rose Test Garden, hosting pruning demonstrations, organizing additional rose shows, and offering free advice to gardeners throughout the region. Membership is open to anyone with an interest in roses, whether tending a single plant or cultivating an entire garden.
